In high school we actually had an english class that focused only on banned books. I guess if I had to have a favorite, it'd be Harry Potter, but there are so many I loved. Go Ask Alice is another great one.Valerie Kemphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05795714434618357955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740020593647189165.post-35461534326895251412011-09-28T15:39:45.419-04:002011-09-28T15:39:45.419-04:00Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. I think Go Ask Alice is part of why I stayed far away from drugs too...who would read it and think "That seems like a great thing to do"? I LOVED Speak and thought it was brilliant. I haven't read Annie On My Mind but will check it out. Thanks for your thoughts.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05255908019822363456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740020593647189165.post-44544843752762610802011-09-27T23:38:36.720-04:002011-09-27T23:38:36.720-04:00My dad had me read Go Ask Alice while I was still ...My dad had me read Go Ask Alice while I was still in grade school, and because of that and the Sweet Valley High book where poor Regina Morrow died the very first time she tried cocaine due to a previously undiagnosed heart issue, I stayed far away from drugs. I don't know if I could pick just one banned book to give the most love. I read Speak last year for banned book week and it was amazing and I still shake my head that anyone could find that book too graphic, and I just finished Annie On My Mind today and I can't believe that some people think books can change a person's sexuality. I just wish that people that for the banning of books would really take the time to read the entire book, and not just bits and pieces that are often taken out of context.Kate @Midnight Book Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01220575670960466054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740020593647189165.post-20949487728949269742011-09-27T12:46:59.694-04:002011-09-27T12:46:59.694-04:00Love it. :-)Love it. :-)Lacey J Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17930985573303127061noreply@blogger.com
