What's the Best Book You've Read This Year?

I want to know what book (or books) rocked your socks this year. I had a different post planned but am completely distracted by the fact that my long-suffering Chiefs are in the process of possibly WINNING the Monday Night game right now--how can I be expected to blog at a time like this?

I'll admit that my book curiosity is part selfish. I finished MOCKINGJAY by the amazing Suzanne Collins this week...and before that, I read MATCHED by Ally Condie and THE DUFF by Kody Keplinger so I'm feeling a little spoiled right now. After those three incredible books, I need something really good to follow them or I know I'll just put it down again.

I have The Passage by Justin Cronin and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson on my bedside table, but I'm not sure if this week is the right time for them.

So, I'm in desperate need of assistance. What should I read next? Help me, please!

  1. This is so tough. There are so many fabulous books out there right now. My hands down favorites that I have read so far would be...of course Clockwork Angel. And then Paranormalcy and Firelight. Those are the stories that have stuck with me and left me pining for the next installments!

  2. Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven by the incredible Susan Jane Gilman.

The only problems with this book were (a) an inaccurate Hogan's Heroes reference and (b) it ended.

Not only can Gilman write a fantastic book, but the story is true.

  3. Lol! Well, I would say MATCHED by Ally Condie but you've read it. I am so in love with that book. After that and MOCKINGJAY I'm stuck in a reading rut too. I have THE DUFF. I need to read that.
Kristi I wish I could help you but I think you've read everything I have.

So many people all over the net are recommending PARANORMALCY!

  4. Thanks for the recommendations. I think I'll have to start at the beginning of the Clockwork Angel series--isn't it the 3rd or 4th in the series?

Tom-there's no danger of me noticing an inaccurate Hogan's Hero reference. :) Sounds interesting though. Thanks.

Lacey-MATCHED is my overall fave of the year. So hard to follow...:)

  7. I really enjoyed the Forest of Hands and Teeth and I didn't think that I would. I would also suggest anything by Ellen Hopkins--she's an absolute genius. :)

  8. Forest of Hands and Teeth is one of my ultimate favorite books ever.

I keep forgetting I have Nightshade. I'll have to read that.

And I second what Valerie said. Before I Fall was great.
