Contest Monday!
Good morning! I haven't completely disappeared, I'm here! Kristi is enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation with her kids, Valerie is planning her amazing trip to Amsterdam, and I am up to my eyeballs in revisions, and trying to balance it with my family time. Eep!

I am still celebrating my big agent news with a giveaway over at my blog! Closing to entries on Wednesday, July 20th at 11:59pm EST. You can win a book from one of my agency sisters! Either an ARC of Marie Lu's dystopian, LEGEND, or a signed pre-order of Miranda Kenneally's CATCHING JORDAN!
YA author Carrie Harris (BAD TASTE IN BOYS) is still hosting her benefit auction, Night of the Giving Dead! Lot's of fantastic items up for grabs, but if you don't want to bid you can donate too. And all participants are eligible to win one of two grand prizes: a new kindle with a BTIB e-book, or a 6 month writing mentorship with Carrie! The auction is to benefit the Giving Library at the University of Michigan C.S Mott Children's Hospital.
**Updating to let you know about this!***
Over at Lisa and Laura's blog, you can enter to win $1,000, your own author page at TheReadingRoom.com, and a chance to have your work considered for representation by lit agent Catherine Dreyton! Starts today, so go go go!
Hope you're enjoying Summer!
And as always, if you've found a book giveaway or a writing related contest around the web, let us know!

Writers For The Red Cross
Be sure to check out Dear Teen Me today for a letter from my scribe sister Valerie to her teen self. There's a picture. With Kermit. You don't want to miss it.

This week (like the last two or three) has been pretty frazzling for me, and like Kristi had mentioned on Tuesday, my mind keeps going back to Japan. Knowing what those people are going through puts things in perspective.
Times are hard for a lot of people, but this week before you go out and purchase a new book, check out Writers for the Red Cross. If you donate $25 to the Red Cross via WFTRC, you'll be sent a book of your choosing from what they have on their donated shelves.
Debbie from inkyelbows, is also donating a hand-illustrated custom poem to the highest bidder. Her package will be up for auction until March 20th. Details on that here.
They have a lot of great books on hand, but only a limited supply available, so if you can, donate today, and please spread the word!

Thankful
As Thanksgiving approaches, I'm thinking of all the things I'm grateful for. Since this is a writing blog, I'll share some of the writing related things that fill me with joy and gratitude.
Like Kristi, I'm grateful that I have the time to write and the support of my family who help and encourage me to find and make the time to meet my writing goals.
I'm grateful for the awesome crit partners I've met in the last year and who I'm also fortunate to call my friends. (Lacey, Kristi, Natalie, LOVE you guys!)
And most of all, I'm grateful for the amazing, generous, supportive, open-minded, open-hearted, talented, giving members of the YA writing community. I am constantly overwhelmed and awed by the effort this community puts into helping others whether it's in becoming a better writer, or living a better life. I am so proud to be a part of this group of people and to do my tiny part in helping others and sharing the love of great books to anyone I can.
Since this is a time of being grateful, and the season of giving is just around the corner I wanted to share a link to the Season of Love and Hope Auction benefitting children's writer Bridget Zinn who is battling colon cancer.
TONS of amazing authors and publishing people have donated some seriously awesome things like critiques and ARCs and vacations so check it out if you have the time.
I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for reading this blog. I'm so grateful for all of you!

Doing the Write Thing for Nashville and Contest Monday
If you haven't yet heard about the amazing auction going on to benefit the brave people of Nashville, please go check out Do the Write Thing for Nashville. There are some amazing things being auctioned off including critiques, signed books and phone calls with agents. I can't even imagine what the people living there have gone through, so even if you can't bid on something, send some positive thoughts their way.
Along those lines, there is only one week left to enter our Sisters in Scribe contest for a signed copy of Melissa Marr's Radiant Shadows. We already have a bunch of entries, but I will donate $1 for every entry we get by the deadline (5/17) toward disaster relief in Nashville. I'll announce the winner next Monday, along w/ the total number of entries. Have a fabulous week!
