Product Description
Gabry lives a quiet life. As safe a life as is possible in a town trapped between a forest and the ocean, in a world teeming with the dead, who constantly hunger for those still living. She’s content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry’s mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Like the cult of religious zealots who worship the dead. Like the stranger from the forest who seems to know Gabry. And suddenly, everything is changing. One reckless moment, and half of Gabry’s generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry only knows one thing: she must face the forest of her mother’s past in order to save herself and the one she loves.
Last week, I recommended THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH, so of course I've got to recommend it's equally awesome companion novel this week. I think I may have enjoyed this one even more than FOHT. Lots of unexpected twists, thrilling action, great imagery. It's a big more *gross* than FOREST, but if you're like me you kind of like gross. I highly recommend this book.
This book is staring at me from my bookshelf with puppy dog eyes wondering when I'm going to get the chance to read it!
ReplyDeleteThis one is next on my list! I can't wait. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing L.J. This sounds like a great read.
ReplyDeleteOne question: what exactly does companion book mean? Not a sequel or a prequel, but set in the same world? Does that mean it may have some of the same characters but it doesn't have to?
Just curious.
Today's guest blogger is Rachel Alpine!
I'm not finished with it yet, but I think I'm at the last chapter. I don't want it to end, BUT Carrie Ryan did say on yalitchat there is a third book.
ReplyDeleteHI Matt! With this particular book, it's set in the same world, AFTER THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH with some of the characters form that book. The first book was told by Mary, and this book is told by her daughter.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I SO want to read both of these! Thanks for the recommendations!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Sounds like a great read. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI definitely loved this more than FOHT. Great friday recommendation.
