We're so excited to have reached 300 fabulous followers! How excited? We're doing a giveaway to commemorate the occasion. We're making it easy--you don't have to fill out a form. You don't have to blog, Tweet, post anything on Facebook, or sacrifice any small animals. All we want from you is feedback. Just leave us a comment below telling us what you like about the blog and/or topics you'd like us to add/expand in the future. And be a follower. That's it. You have until this Sunday, June 20th at 9pm ET to leave your comment.
There will be 3 winners: one for each hundred of you wonderful readers. The winners will be selected by a random generator and I'll announce the lucky peeps next Mon. June 21st. Each winner will get to choose one of the following books: The Forest of Hands and Teeth-Carrie Ryan, The Hunger Games-Suzanne Collins, The Maze Runner-James Dashner, or Bleeding Violet-Dia Reeves. You can email me your choice if you're one of the winners. Good luck!!!!
P.S. The contest is open to those living in any place where the Book Depository ships.
Other Contests: Angela over at The Bookshelf Muse is celebrating reaching 800 followers--there are great prizes including 2 full manuscript critiques!!!! Head on over there and enter before Wed. June 16th.
I am a lurker, but long time follower. I like reading the writing tips. They are helpful and interesting.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your followers.
I love all the writing tips. I know, I know, that's almost all the posts, but that just means I like all of it. : D It might be fun to get a little taste of what each of you writes. If you've done this in the past, please ignore me (I'm a fairly new follower...) but I think that would be fantastic. ; )
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest & congrats on followers.

Your writing tips are awesome- they might be about just the basics of writing, but they help heaps! I'd love to read some more on how you guys create your characters and more on dialog (I have the most difficulty trying to keep that "natural" if you know what I mean!)

ReplyDeleteI just started following this but I looked around a bit and I really like the Friday Book Recommendations. I saw that you had The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead-Tossed Waves on there. Those are definitely two of my Top 10 favourite books. I actually got to meet Carrie Ryan in March. She's such a sweetheart! =D
ReplyDeleteI'm a lurker too but I love all the writing advice so thank you for that :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, thank you for the contest :)

I've been following and reading for a while, but I don't comment much.
ReplyDeleteI really like your writing tips. As of late, one that's helped me a lot was the show vs tell. I never really got it, but the way you explained it with "my heart racing with fear" vs "my heart racing" really clarified it for me, and I've been working hard to apply it.
Yay! I'm a follower! And there's actually one of those books that I HAVEN'T read yet - can you believe it?? I like it when you blog about craft, btw. Guess that's broad, but it's true!
ReplyDeleteI like the variety of writing tips. They cover everything that aspiring writers need to know.

ReplyDeleteI am an old follower, but not that old. Maybe just a few month. I found your blog when I was looking for some tips how to write a good review and your blog happens to give them all. I googled for a little but i gained a lot bunch of tips. I dont comment much, but I like reading of the writing tips as a reference. So I think you guys keep it up, make it simple, easy for some lurker like me, and provide lots of writing tips. It's help a little if it is not much ;p

ReplyDeleteI loved the post that you just wrote, actually, about waiting to send your best work into an agent. I find myself over and over thinking, eh, what if no one even likes the idea - why bother fleshing this out if it won't sell? It was a boost, and a good one...so I'm plugging away!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
