A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

So, tell me, what's your book love of the week?
I am currently reading Perfect Chemistry too, and it's amazing so far!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I stayed up to finish it last night and it was so good! I'll have to look at her new one.
ReplyDeleteYou're blog hasn't been showing up in my dashboard lately ladies. I think it's because I only have time to check for the first couple of hours in the morning. Oh well, I'll have to try to remember to come back later in the day.
ReplyDeleteI want this book! I have her other two, Leaving Paradise and Return to Paradise (both signed! Woot!) but I haven't read them yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a bump-in-the-night girl too, but lately I've found a great many contemporary YA that I've fallen in love with. One of them that really sticks with me is THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE by Jandy Nelson. I love that book.
I love love love this book. Such great characters (and such great romantic tension!). Rules of Attraction captivated me, too. I may have to reread both of those right now... :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this book before. A fellow writer linked me the book trailer from youtube which is quite hilarious. I need to remember to pick it up at some stage.
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about this book but I worry that it seems too happy for me. (Unless, wait, does anyone die in it?) You know I'm all about the sadness and the drama. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading her Leaving Paradise and Return to Paradise though. They're staring at me from my bookcase.
Right now my book love is BEFORE I FALL still love that book. Wish I had time to re-read. Also, The Sky is Everywhere is calling my name. Now that I got the pretty British version I can tell just by flipping through it that I'll probably love it as much as everyone else seems to.
Valerie - yes someone dies so I think you'll be okay, lol. I've heard great things about The Sky is Everywhere and Before I Fall...I just hate crying while I read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! Will be ordering this from the library. What is it about star-crossed lovers that's so appealing? :)
ReplyDeleteSamantha - love without the looming threat of death is just so boring. :)
